Usually what will happen is that if you are hired by a county and don't have a teaching license, you will be granted a 3-year provisional license. Essentially, that means you have three years to complete whatever education coursework you need and pass the Praxis. OJT will count as student teaching. I think it would be more complicated if you had a History degree and wanted to teach Health & P.E. You would also have to take enough classes to be considered a P.E. teacher.
